PROGRAM LEVEL

Program Level: The B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory Sciences program is four (4) academic years (8 semesters) with a total of 130 credits. The Medical Laboratory Scientist contributes to the development and application of new techniques for the improved diagnosis of diseases. The aim of the program is to graduate competent Diagnostic Medical Laboratory Scientists who contribute to quality healthcare, nationally, regionally, and internationally. Specific courses focus on all major disciplines of diagnostic Hematology, Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry, Immunohematology, Histopathology and Cytology. The B.Sc. MLS program has gained full confidence by the National Authority for Qualification and Quality Assurance of Education & Training.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  1. The applicant is a holder of an associate degree in the specialization with a cumulative GPA of no less than (2.5 out of 4) from the University of Bahrain or any recognized university.
  2. The applicant must have an English language certificate (IELTS) with a score of no less than (5) and its date must not exceed 3 years.
  3. Has a valid license to practice the profession in the field of specialization.
  4. The applicant has spent at least two years of practical experience in the field of specialization.
  5. Passing personal interviews in the field of specialization.

Required Document

  1. A copy of a Valid passport
  2. A copy of a valid ID (non-Bahraini)
  3. Professional Personal Photo
  4. No objection letter from the university to which the student belongs.
  5. Copy of University Degree transcript and graduation statement
  6. A copy of the highschool transcript with a graduation statement.
  7. A copy of a valid residencepermit for non-Bahraini students.
  8. At least two years’ practical experience, for programs: (pharmacy – medical laboratory science – radiology diagnostic).
  9. Professional or academic recommendation letter, for programs: (pharmacy – medical laboratory science – radiology diagnostic).
  10. A valid license to practice from the health authorities.
  11. A valid IELTS or TOFEL English certificate.
  12. Special for Kuwaiti and Omani students: No objection letter from the Cultural Attaché’s Office for their embassies in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

  4. Demonstrate verbal and written communication, time management, and teamwork & presentation skills.
  5. Practice a high level of competence to deal with ethical and social issues related to human health and care.
  6. Employ administrative skills, principles, and standards of quality assurance for continuous laboratory development.
  7. Apply safe laboratory practice including working environment and adherence to safety rules & regulations.
  8. Critically analyze scientific publications to appreciate the advancement in the field of medical laboratory sciences.
