PROGRAM LEVEL
The Master of Science in Adult Health Advanced Practice Nursing is designed for registered nurses aiming to enhance their expertise in adult health nursing. Launched in 2018, the program is recognized by the National Regulatory Authority (NHRA) as an Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) Master’s program.
The curriculum includes four specializations: critical care, cardiovascular, emergency, and nephrology nursing, comprising 45 credit hours over four to eight semesters. Students are equipped for leadership roles within interprofessional teams, healthcare policy development, and research initiatives. Key subjects covered include advanced health assessment, diagnostic studies, and therapeutic management.
The program emphasizes extensive clinical experience, allowing students to apply their theoretical knowledge in real-world settings, develop advanced research skills, and demonstrate proficiency in technical and interpersonal abilities. Graduates can pursue various career paths, such as advanced clinical practice nurses, nurse leaders, researchers, and academic staff, and the program provides a solid foundation for further postgraduate studies, including a Ph.D. in related fields.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The graduates of the program will be prepared to:
- Assume advanced practice nurses’ role who lead the healthcare institutions toward quality and cost-effective patient-centered nursing care.
- Participate in the development of healthcare policies at institutional, national, and regional levels
- Pursue further postgraduate studies and continuous professional development in adult health nursing, including critical care, cardiovascular, emergency, and nephrology specialties.
- Design collaborative research focused on investigating contemporary healthcare issues and improving current nursing practices.
- Contribute to the enrichment of adult health nursing specialties by integrating evidence-based practice and clinical guidelines.
PROGRAM INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES
The graduates of the program will be able to:
a. Integrate professional knowledge, current evidence, and clinical guidelines for guiding adult health nursing practice.
b. Provide specialized nursing care for adult patients with various health problems utilizing the Advanced practiced nurses’ core competencies and scope of practice.
c. Apply advanced research skills and emerging technologies in critical care, cardiovascular, emergency, and nephrology nursing specialties.
d. Demonstrate clinical reasoning and leadership skills for achieving quality adult health nursing practice and optimal patient clinical outcomes.
e. Employ communication and collaboration skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams across various healthcare settings.
f. Comply with the ethical principles, legal regulations, and professional nursing standards for safeguarding patients’ safety and rights.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
A. Bachelor in Nursing Holders
 The applicants of the program must fulfill the general admission requirements for postgraduate studies at the University of Bahrain in addition to the following program-specific admission requirements:
- Hold a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in nursing from the University of Bahrain or any equivalent degree from a recognized university.
- Hold a valid nursing license from the concerned responsible health authorities.
- Pass the personal interview at the department level.
- Submit two recommendation letters.
- Have a valid Basic Life Support Provider Certificate.
B. Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Holders
- Hold Postgraduate diploma degree in one of the following specialties (a) Critical Care Nursing, (b) Cardiovascular Care Nursing, (c) Nephrology Nursing or (d) Emergency Nursing with CGPA equal or above 3:00 out of 4:00 from University of Bahrain or other recognized university.
- Hold a valid nursing license from the concerned responsible health authorities.
- Pass the personal interview at the department level.
- Submit two recommendation letters
DEGREE AWARDING REQUIREMENTS
To graduate, students must fulfill the general graduation requirement stated in the postgraduate studies regulations of the University of Bahrain in addition to the following program-specific graduation requirements:
- Complete Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
