Molecular modeling, computer-aided drug design (CADD), molecular mechanics, and other bioinformatics applications were employed to create and synthesize innovative agents targeting persistent health issues such as inflammation and infection, as well as rare and neglected diseases like leishmaniasis and malaria, and newly emerged diseases like COVID-19. Moreover, he has made contributions to food safety and explored food by-products as potential sources of valuable pharmaceuticals. Additionally, his research involved the design of novel drug delivery systems using functional biomaterials in collaboration with Harvard University, USA. Prof. Adnan A. Bekhit earned his M Pharm in 1989 and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 1993 from Alexandria University, Egypt. He conducted postdoctoral research at SAIC-NCI-FCRDC in the USA and Kyoto Pharmaceutical University, Japan. Currently, he is a professor at Alexandria University and an honorary visiting professor at Kyoto Pharmaceutical University. Since 2018, he has been with the College of Health & Sport Sciences at the University of Bahrain. His research focuses on designing and synthesizing novel bioactive compounds, including anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer agents. He has published 145 papers, with an H-index of 41, highlighting his impact in medicinal chemistry.Areas of Expertise
