Biography


Distinguished academic and healthcare professional with over three decades of experience in radiography, medical imaging, and higher education. Dedicated my career to advancing radiologic technology, education, and research in the Kingdom of Bahrain and beyond.

My academic journey began with an associate degree in Radiography Technology from the College of Health Sciences in Bahrain in 1992. Further pursued my passion for medical imaging, earning a B.Sc. (Hons) in Radiography (Diagnostic) from the University of Portsmouth, UK, in 1996, followed by an M.Sc. in Medical Imaging from the University of Leeds, UK, in 2006. Completed my doctoral studies in 2020, with a thesis focused on the impact of digital technology on radiography professional skills in Bahrain.

Holed numerous leadership roles at the University of Bahrain, including Coordinator and Senior Lecturer for both the B.Sc. and Associate Degree programs in Radiologic Technology, and served as Head of the Diagnostic Radiography Program and actively involved in curriculum development, accreditation, and quality assurance initiatives. My efforts are instrumental in establishing the Radiologic Sciences Skills Lab and advancing the national qualifications framework for radiologic technology in Bahrain.

Prior to my academic career, I gained extensive clinical experience at Salmaniya Medical Complex, where I worked as an Interventional & Vascular Technologist, Nuclear Medicine Technologist, and Radiologic Technologist. My hands-on experience in diverse radiology departments has enriched my teaching and research.

Have research activities in esteemed journals such as Radiation Physics and Chemistry and the Oman Medical Journal. My research spans topics like patient radiation dose optimization, claustrophobia management in MRI systems, and the professionalism of radiographers in the digital era. Also, I serve as a reviewer for several academic journals, including Radiography and Journal of Radiological Case Reports. Besides the supervision over many undergraduate graduation projects.

I am also, dedicated advocate for professional development, as I chaired and participated in numerous committees, including the Curriculum Committee, Health and Safety Committee, and Digital Transformation Committee at the University of Bahrain, besides being an active member of the Bahrain Society for Technologists & Radiographers and the Society and College of Radiographers (UK).

My career is marked by unwavering dedication to elevating radiography education and practice in Bahrain. Through leadership, research, and mentorship, and continue to shape the future of radiologic technology, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and professional excellence
