PROGRAM LEVEL

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is four academic years (eight semesters) with a total of 132 credit hours. The program is designed to graduate professional nurses who are able to provide competent, safe, evidence-based, and culturally sensitive care to all individuals across the lifespan and advance the nursing profession through lifelong learning. The Program also has a clinical training component in collaboration with the healthcare services to ensure the achievement of the required clinical competencies.

The program undergoes regular reviews. The BSN granted full confidence from Bahrain’s Education & Training Quality Authority (BQA) in 2012 and 2021. It has been placed on Level 8 of the National Qualification Framework (NQF) since 2016. In 2023, the curriculum was developed based on benchmarking of regional and international universities and feedback and in alignment with the Nurse of the Future Model and Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) framework. The developed study plan is currently re-validated by the NQF. The program is in the process of getting American accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).

In January 2024, the international consultant recommended that the B.Sc. in Nursing program at UoB is eligible for ACEN candidacy.
